A few happy little packages, on their way , off into the wild, to surprise a few lucky recipients…I can’t wait until they arrive! 🙂

So, it has taken a while, but I have finished another spread! It helped that DH was around today to take over dog supervising duties… Love him (both the dog, and the Husband 😉 ), but I am finding it really hard to create with 2 dogs always in my lap, and one chewing on my fingers all the time. So I am enjoying the art time while I can get it! 😉 (sorry, the picture is a little crooked…)
Yes, I did write the date as August. Ha ha! Have no idea what I was thinking. Changed it to October… Also, this picture is a bit gold-er then the original. The prompt was “Find a poem and let it inspire your journal page”. This one spoke to me when I saw it, and it had a simple, elegant feeling to it, and so I tried to mimic that in the spread.
Day 3. My prompt was “Paint or illustrate how you feel when you’re at your favorite place.” I chose my office as my favorite place, and colored a self-portrait from one of my favorite pictures of myself (and these can be hard to find… 😉 ) It’s not done, it needs some doodling or something to finish it…
I did it! I finished my first altered object. Do you remember the tissue box? Well, here it is now…
It actually wasn’t as hard as I thought. I used all stuff in my home. I covered in in white felt, and then in some flannel I had left over. I glued on one piece of ribbon to hide the seam, and a piece of lace around the top. I painted 2 pieces of cereal box blue, to divide up the inside. Then a string of pearls around the top over the lace. And voila! Kinda proud me thinks. Already is full or tools and has an honored spot in my craft space. =D
Have you altered anything lately? Tell me about it in the comments…

Well, today, I got a bit more art journaling done. And it felt pretty good. I was having a bit of a low and quiet day. I didn’t have much of an attention span, so adding layers, and letting them dry was perfect. It served as just enough of a distraction. I’m not sure if it got me in to, or out of my head, but it was what I needed. And I learned something. I hate crackled. But that was for a different project. I can’t believe I took so much time on it this week, and let it stress me out like it did. Anyhow, here is the one I worked on today, and am going to share. I don’t know if I like it yet, let alone love it. It has a lot going on. But I do like the layers, and I like the texture. I am just going to keep adding to it until it’s more cohesive. And by the time it is done, I will like it… 🙂
So, the big question… did I “Your Stuff… Use It!” today? You bet I did. I keep a bowl on my craft table, that I put any bits in, that I think may be large enough to use for something. Cut out circles. Bits of twine. Pattern paper. Anything that feels ‘reusable’. I even have a window from and envelope in here. So, that is what I used for my first layer. That blue came off off something and smeared around (threads maybe?). Next was a white wash layer, followed by a layer of glued on pieces of book pages. From here, I am thinking another white wash layer maybe, and I am seeing a large flower, or a girl. We shall see…
Did you do any art journaling this week? Did you use stuff you already own? Please leave me a comment down below so I can come see! 🙂
So, you remember my heart from yesterday? Well, I finished it! This one kinda turned in to a self-love kind of spread. And, although it’s pretty unlike me, I like this one (crooked heart and all 😉 ) But Effy does have a way of making me stretch myself, and push me out of my box 🙂 And I am counting this one as part of Your Stuff… Use It!, it is an art journal, and I did use my already owned stuff… (notice the rare, unique, relatively new picture you will see of me…)
To this spread I added:
- a picture of me, printed at home on the inkjet (sealed with hair spray)
- washi tape
- more stamped ink
- deli paper
- ball point pen for journaling
- I had a Golden High Gloss Varnish that had come in a multi-pack, and I thought this was a good opportunity to break it out. (and I LOVE the look and feel =D)
- oh, and liquid mat medium to sick on the deli paper…
Words are blurred for the protection of the innocent (or at least me) 😉 So, has anyone else been using their stuff this week? Tell me about it in the comments. Leave me a link… come out and play! 🙂
Hey guys, how are we enjoying “Your Stuff… Use It!” – Art Journal week?
I am multitasking, and worked in my Art Journal on a spread I am doing for Effy Wild‘s BOM/BOD class. This is the week 2 BOM.
In this one (so far) I have used acrylic paint, deli paper, a rubber stamp, black ink, and white chalk stamp pad. I also used a sharpie, charcoal and embossed lettering, but I blurred it out again. (To maintain privacy).
So, have you been art journaling this week? With things you already own? What have you come up with? Leave a link in the comments so we can come check out your page… 🙂
