Wheel Cards

So, I got a couple of cards done this weekend.  There was a challenge (I could see myself getting hooked on these things 😉 ) over at Operation Write Home to make cards featuring a wheel.  Here are a couple I came up with…

It’s Week 2!

… and you know what that means don’t you?  It’s Art Journal Week!  I am actually pretty excited for this one.  I haven’t been getting as much done lately as I would like, and I kinda miss it, so this is a good opportunity to dig out some stuff, roll up my sleeves, and dive in to my elbows! 🙂

Well, ok.  This one takes a bit longer then cards… drying time you know ;)… so I don’t have anything to show you yet, so until I do, I will show you a card box I FINALLY finished, (not for Your Stuff…Use It!, just for fun). It was taught by The Musical Scrapper on her stream (copied to youtube)… Here is a picture of my finished product…

You want to play along?  It is easy!  Make an art journal page.  Only use thing in your stash, you already own.  List what you use.  Then leave me a link to your post, blog tweet, down below so we can go see.  Easy? And fun! 🙂

Green Happy Birthday Card for YSUI…

It is day 3, and 3 cards for me! Whoo Hoo!  Hope I can keep this up 🙂  How are you doing using your stuff?  (After all, we know it’s Your Stuff… Use It!) lol

happy birthday layer card

My card today is another one where I just used scraps.  I grabbed 3 pieces that looked like they went together out of the scrap-box.  (I think all 3 are from the Recollections Mosaic Memories pattern paper pad). I mounted them on black card stock (also Recollections (and yes, I know a couple are crooked, I think that is what you get from making cards as 1 AM :P)).  The Happy Birthday sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp, and the green is a cheap, generic ink, I have no idea where I got it.  I wasn’t happy with the way this one stamped, so I colored over it with a complimentary Prisma Color Pencil, and I like the way it look a whole lot better now.  Also, it took the blinding factor off the bright white, always a plus!  And the bling is from a package I got at the dollar store here a while back.  There are things I would fix, but generally I like it.  My inspiration for this one can be found HERE.

So, do you have a card you would like to share? Post it in the comments down below… Did you use anything out of your stash this weekend?

Day 2 (YS…UI!)

Hey guys, how are you doing?  Are you digging through your stuff, and finding some new/old treasures?  Maybe stuff you forgot you had?  And inspiration in those deep drawers and boxes?  Here is my card from Day 2 of ‘Your Stuff… Use It!’

debbie condolance card

This one is the condolence card I made for my S-MIL.  It is a move vintage color scheme in real life, not this bright…  This is a card lift I made from Splitcoaststampers.  The paper is from a bulk batch of 600+ papers I bought back in May.  The cream card stock is from Staples, and the chocolate-brown card stock is from Michael’s.  The ‘Thinking of You’ stamp is also one I bought as part of a wooden stamp set at Michael’s, and it’s stamped in Soft Brown Hero Arts Ink.  The butterfly is more cream card stock made with a EK Success layer stamp.  The embossing was done in my Big Kick with a Cricket Embossing Folder…

So, did you make any cards this weekend? Did you use your stuff? (or did you break down and run out the Michael’s or the scrapbook store?)  Leave us a link in the comments so we can come see! 🙂

Are You Ready?

So, I realized today that tomorrow is the first of September!  Where did August go?  If I am going to do ‘Your Stuff… Use It!’, I need to get off my butt, and put my thoughts on paper so I can start!  So, I present to you, my plan!  (both so you can keep me accountable, and on schedule, and if you want to join me, you can!)

I am thinking 1 topic (but maybe multiple projects in each topic) per week.

So, here is the time-table it am envisioning…

Week 1 (sept. 1-7)- Greeting Cards

Week 2 (sept. 8-14)- Art Journal Page

Week 3 (sept. 15-21)- Simple book binding

Week 4 (sept. 22-28)- Alter something… (to be determined ((I have never done this one, so I am going in blind… gulp!))

Last 2 days- catch up on any unfinished projects

Bonus Projects- A Canvas (either flat or box)

I will list what I use for the projects, it will keep me honest!

And I thought if other people do end up coming to play with me, there could be a possibility of prizes and a “Your Stuff…Exchange It!” exchange.  Because who doesn’t like receiving ‘new’ stuff? 😉

You can join as many or as few weeks as you like… do one, or do the whole thing! (and if I do it by myself, well, it will be all that more challenging to me if I have to inspire myself 😉 )

If you want to play, it’s easy!  Leave me a comment down below my post (of the week, cards for cards, mixed media for mixed media, ect), with a link you your post.  That is it. Easy right?

So, who is in with me? =D
