Day 5- Air Plane Cards

I have a friend who loves airplanes.  So, last year, about this time, I made her a set of greeting cards with planes on them.  They were fun to make.  For me it was a new design, they were fun to color, and the square shape  was a great, new challenge.  I hope she enjoys using them as much as I enjoyed making them. 🙂

It’s Modify Something Week

…in my world anyway ;).  And I am going to be honest.  A confession of sorts.  I have never modified anything.  Maybe a book at one point.  Shocked?  Yeah, well….

The hook to this, is I didn’t know where to start… another book? a box?  I thought of a picture frame, but I think everything I have here would be too thin… (remember, I have to already own it…) So, being stuck, I did what most crafty/artistic girls would do, and I took to twitter…

And my girls there, as always, were great!  They helped me come up with ideas like candlesticks, soap dishes, bar soap, and candles.  Creative, eh?

So then I was wandering around the house, seeing what I had.  In the process I came across, a pile of pens that needed a home.  Unsuitable containers for art supplies.  Paint brushes that had be separated from the rest of various reasons (too nice/expensive, not nice enough, and be relegated to mixes media or glue/gesso brushes).  A few cards, that are in the between step of being made and sent.  And slowly but surely, I realized I was back to boxes.  One for pencils. brushes, art supplies, and one for cars.  These are the 2 I found…

Do you think I can do it?  Have you ever altered a box? Any tips for me?  I am thinking at least one of these will be covered in fabric.  Are you altering anything this week? what?

This is a First!

I have never done a sketch challenge before.  I have make cards from sketches, and done other challenges, but This one I couldn’t pass up.  I saw the card when I was surfing for something else.  And I instantly loved it!  My immediate thought was, I need to case this card.  So, I clicked on it to track it down to it’s web site, and low and behold, it was the example for a card sketch challenge.  I couldn’t believe when i loved the sketch as much as the card…

And I immediately blanked.  Sent DH to the stash (I know, dangerous stuff, but I like living on the edge 😉 )  and told him to pick 2 papers that went together.  This is the card that became of this fun excercise-

This one is made with 2 random papers from my stash (sorry, I don’t know who made them, I bought a huge lot of paper last spring, and these 2 were in it),  Various colors of Hero Arts shadow inks, Simon Says Stamps set called Petal Pieces (clear stamp set), EK Tools butterfly punch, a Cricket embossing folder, and white heavy card stock from my office supply store.  Oh, and the black is done with Sharpie.  I think it’s makes it pop!

(Oh, BTW, I did use my stuff! 😉 )

Have a great weekend! =D

One Card, Two Ways.

Hey guys, sorry this one is so late.  I had a bit of a sick day today.  Good job I managed to knock off a couple of cards last night… heehee!  I went with a clean and simple design with banners and arrows.  I found my inspiration HERE.

banner cards

So, for this card I used my white card stock from staples.  Today’s pattern paper was NOT scraps! (who is proud of me? lol) although, I realized  this card would be a good one to make with scraps.  I used some Recollections card stock, one card is from the animal print set, and one from the chevron set.  The thank you was from and unknown stamp set, the ink was a black Memento and I used a crayola marker to outline the sentiment, and I popped it up with foam tape by 3M (which I am falling deeply in love with).

Wanna play?  You can check out what I am doing HERE, and leave a comment down below… I would love to see what you are working on, and what you are using… =D
