I have a friend who loves airplanes. So, last year, about this time, I made her a set of greeting cards with planes on them. They were fun to make. For me it was a new design, they were fun to color, and the square shape was a great, new challenge. I hope she enjoys using them as much as I enjoyed making them. 🙂

This is a card I made over the summer over on onlinecardclasses with a bunch of the girls…
Sorry I have been out for the last could days… I just didn’t feel up to blogging. But I am having hoping to have a couple updates for you to wrap up Your Stuff… Use It! in the next couple days… But until then, have a great weekend 🙂
…in my world anyway ;). And I am going to be honest. A confession of sorts. I have never modified anything. Maybe a book at one point. Shocked? Yeah, well….
The hook to this, is I didn’t know where to start… another book? a box? I thought of a picture frame, but I think everything I have here would be too thin… (remember, I have to already own it…) So, being stuck, I did what most crafty/artistic girls would do, and I took to twitter…
And my girls there, as always, were great! They helped me come up with ideas like candlesticks, soap dishes, bar soap, and candles. Creative, eh?
So then I was wandering around the house, seeing what I had. In the process I came across, a pile of pens that needed a home. Unsuitable containers for art supplies. Paint brushes that had be separated from the rest of various reasons (too nice/expensive, not nice enough, and be relegated to mixes media or glue/gesso brushes). A few cards, that are in the between step of being made and sent. And slowly but surely, I realized I was back to boxes. One for pencils. brushes, art supplies, and one for cars. These are the 2 I found…
Do you think I can do it? Have you ever altered a box? Any tips for me? I am thinking at least one of these will be covered in fabric. Are you altering anything this week? what?
I have never done a sketch challenge before. I have make cards from sketches, and done other challenges, but This one I couldn’t pass up. I saw the card when I was surfing for something else. And I instantly loved it! My immediate thought was, I need to case this card. So, I clicked on it to track it down to it’s web site, and low and behold, it was the example for a card sketch challenge. I couldn’t believe when i loved the sketch as much as the card…
And I immediately blanked. Sent DH to the stash (I know, dangerous stuff, but I like living on the edge 😉 ) and told him to pick 2 papers that went together. This is the card that became of this fun excercise-
This one is made with 2 random papers from my stash (sorry, I don’t know who made them, I bought a huge lot of paper last spring, and these 2 were in it), Various colors of Hero Arts shadow inks, Simon Says Stamps set called Petal Pieces (clear stamp set), EK Tools butterfly punch, a Cricket embossing folder, and white heavy card stock from my office supply store. Oh, and the black is done with Sharpie. I think it’s makes it pop!
(Oh, BTW, I did use my stuff! 😉 )
Have a great weekend! =D
