Day 16- Half of an Oops and a Dog

Well, I made it over a half way through the month.  I have a 14 day streak.  (Well, for the month. 19 total.)  But yesterday, I had such a busy day, and was so tired at the end, I actually FORGOT TO JOURNAL… sigh…   Well.  Start again from day one today.  But the blog streak continues. 🙂  So I am calling this a half an oops.  I felt I should tell you, because at the beginning of the month, I told you guys I would keep you in the loop, and be accountable to you guys.

And so this entry has some interesting content, here is my dog Daisy, shy, new haircut and super cute… 🙂

It’s a new year!

So, one of my New Years resolutions is to get back on the blogging train.  My aim is 3 times a week.  So for the first one of the year I dug up and oldie but a goodie (that for some reason slipped through the cracks…).  This is a folio I made last summer.  (from Shannon Greens design)

folioIf you want to make one for your own, here is the video I followed… HERE …

Please if you do, send me a picture! I would love to see it… 🙂

Poem Spread

So, it has taken a while, but I have finished another spread!  It helped that DH was around today to take over dog supervising duties… Love him (both the dog, and the Husband 😉 ), but I am finding it really hard to create with 2 dogs always in my lap, and one chewing on my fingers all the time.  So I am enjoying the art time while I can get it! 😉  (sorry, the picture is a little crooked…)

2013-11-16 17.01.32 AYes, I did write the date as August. Ha ha!  Have no idea what I was thinking.  Changed it to October… Also, this picture is a bit gold-er then the original.  The prompt was “Find a poem and let it inspire your journal page”.  This one spoke to me when I saw it, and it had a simple, elegant feeling to it, and so I tried to mimic that in the spread.

Happy Place

Day 3.  My prompt was “Paint or illustrate how you feel when you’re at your favorite place.”  I chose my office as my favorite place, and colored a self-portrait from one of my favorite pictures of myself (and these can be hard to find… 😉 )  It’s not done, it needs some doodling or something to finish it…

Journal Jewelry- Gold Nest with Eggs

This is a little bird nest I made with wire and a few beads.  I saw them a few years ago, making the rounds on the internet, and wanted to try.  This is the smallest thing I have tried in a long time.  I kind of gave up on beading after my eyesight went.  But now that I have learned to adapt a little, and the fatigue doesn’t get me as fast, so i thought I would try.  I am quite pleased with the way it turn out, so I made it into journal jewelry.

Art Journal, because it’s a distraction…

Well, today, I got a bit more art journaling done.  And it felt pretty good.  I was having a bit of a low and quiet day.  I didn’t have much of an attention span, so adding layers, and letting them dry was perfect.  It served as just enough of a distraction.  I’m not sure if it got me in to, or out of my head, but it was what I needed.  And I learned something.  I hate crackled.  But that was for a different project.  I can’t believe I took so much time on it this week, and let it stress me out like it did.  Anyhow, here is the one I worked on today, and am going to share.  I don’t know if I like it yet, let alone love it.  It has a lot going on.  But I do like the layers, and I like the texture.  I am just going to keep adding to it until it’s more cohesive.  And by the time it is done, I will like it… 🙂

So, the big question… did I “Your Stuff… Use It!” today?  You bet I did.  I keep a bowl on my craft table, that I put any bits in, that I think may be large enough to use for something.  Cut out circles.  Bits of twine.  Pattern paper.  Anything that feels ‘reusable’.  I even have a window from and envelope in here.  So, that is what I used for my first layer.  That blue came off off something and smeared around (threads maybe?). Next was a white wash layer, followed by a layer of glued on pieces of book pages.  From here, I am thinking another white wash layer maybe, and I am seeing a large flower, or a girl.  We shall see…

Did you do any art journaling this week? Did you use stuff you already own? Please leave me a comment down below so I can come see! 🙂
