Green Book Done!

Feels good to have complete a project.  My first one for this week of Your Stuff… Use It!  (my stuff?).  Anyhow. This is one of my favorite styles of books to bind.  It’s fast, easy, and I always have the stuff.  And it’s a great on to throw in my purse, to use as a sketchbook, note taker, list maker, ect.  I did go a bit fancy with this one, and added a layer of pattern paper on the front.

(The colors are NOT this bright in real life, but are they ever? heh)

To make this one, I used a file folder (old or new works fine, but if it’s a gift, I would go with new) pattern paper from Recollections, 20 pieces of printer paper, duck brand duct tape, a couple of green home-made polymer beads (optional and not shown) and some left over green sock yarn).  That is it.  3 holes.  Sew it up. Easy right?

Are you binding anything this week?  Tell me about it! 🙂

Any ideas on what I should/could alter next week?

And So It Begins….

Finally it’s Day one of Your Stuff… Use It! and I am pretty excited!  Here is my first card for card week…

ysui, day 1

I went a step further (but obviously you don’t have to) and not only used stuff I already own, but scraps.  As the pattern paper is from various old projects, I can’t name the brand, but I am willing to bet it’s Recollections (I use a lot of Recollections).  I used cream-colored card stock to layer my papers on, and the card itself is kraft card stock (I love the look of kraft paper, I really need to start using it more).  There is a piece of brown and white bakers twine tied on the top.  The house is a stamp (I believe it is a $1.50 bargain bin stamp from Michael’s as well).  I usually do my coloring in Prisma Color Pencils, but decided to step out of my box, and use markers.  My choices were Crayola Markers or Sharpies, so today, I went with the Crayola, pulling most of the colors out of the pattern paper.  I kind of like the effect, and will do this again 🙂

So, I have looked at my week, and would like to try and do a card a day.  But we will see.  And obviously this will not work on other weeks (and altered object a day? ouch!)  But, I do want to try to keep my daily blogging up, so on days I don’t have a Your Stuff… Use It! project, I will continue to blog as I have been to fill the gaps.

Has anyone else started with me yet? What ‘cha got? (please post the link to your pictures/blogs/ect. in the comments below, so we call all see)  and if you can, list what you used, because it’s interesting to me… 🙂

Come back tomorrow for another card…

PS- if you missed today, you can join in tomorrow!  All of week 1 is card week, and so goes until Saturday September 7th… (and remember, this is come and go as you like, you can do one or all, pick and choose… just drop in and let us know!)

still searching….

I made these papers about a year ago. And I LOVE them.  I recently re-found them and would like to make more.  Of course I CAN’T remember how i made them.  I do know it wasn’t my technique.  Any thoughts? Any one recognize it? can any one point me in a direction?  All I know is there is texture, and I am pretty sure it is acrylic… thoughts?

Small hard cover note book

This is one I made a couple weeks ago.  It’s mostly re-purposed materials.  It measures about the same size as  an ATC (2 1/2×3 1/2) (I put a stamp in and a pen for comparison).  I would make more of these, I like it and the way it turned out…

Mini Coptic Journal

A few weeks ago, I made DH a coptic journal.  I had enough pieces left over when I was done for another, smaller one.  This one was exactly the same (but with different cover paper) but smaller.  I put tassels on this one and attached a few polymer hearts I had made, along with a few of my paper beads.  Will be a cute little fun one for doodles…

Watercolor Journal

Yes.  I have been making journals again.  (still?)  These two came from one of those BIG sheets of luxurious paper from the art store.  It was watercolor paper (and I am kicking myself for not writing down what it was called.)  They are bound with regular kitchen twine in pamphlet stitch, and sprayed with Dylusions. Then I rounded the corners with a punch.   The little one has already been put to good use.  I am putting washes of leftover acrylic paint in it for backgrounds, and then I doodling in it with black Pitt Pen.  The big journal is still waiting for it’s calling.
