NaNoWriMo, Blogging, Journaling, and Blue Hair…

So, today is the first of November, and I have made myself some goals.  The first is to write a lot more.  I am not doing NaNoWriMo per se, but I do want to write more this month, so I am making my challenge to just write MORE every day.  Already kicked off a nice little story today, so I feel hopeful.

The second is to blog every day.  I don’t think I have ever done this, but I would like to see if I can pull it off.  Some days it may be a picture of a finished work, a work in progress, on my pets doing something cute.  But I am aiming for daily (and even I know I am not THAT interesting 😉 ) so we will see what happens…

And third, keep up my daily journaling.  Right now I am on the sixth day of a streak… I slagged off for a while, so I am getting back on the horse… and enjoying the process again.  I hope to keep it up.  Maybe this will keep me accountable.

So, to make this post vaguely interesting… Here is a picture of me on Halloween with blue hair.  I am hoping one day to have this hair…

Sunflowers Shimmer

I don’t talk about it much, but I have been writing some poetry.  I took a class this summer, and enjoyed it thoroughly, as I have never learned much about it.  So tonight, I have decided to share… This is one of my favorites so far…

Sunflowers Shimmer

Sunflowers shimmer

As dew drops dance

On petals translucent

Stalks green as garnet

Sway gently in warm wispy breezes

Stretching for silos casting serene shade

Over seas of canary colored petals

Following namesake across sky

In last days

Head drops heavily

Like brass bells

Swollen with abundance

With crunchy treats nutrient full

Treat for tummies

Little and old

Work to crack out little nibbles

Birds fling from feeders and nests

Planting mini crops for following year

I Have a Secret…

… Well, maybe not so much a secret, but something I haven’t talked very much about.  You see, I have been taking an art journaling class this summer.  It is the BOD/BOM class with Effy Wild… and I am enjoying the different techniques she uses (and there are a LOT on every page).  There is one of each type of spread per week, for 18 weeks.  We are on week 10.  But, I have been working on it very slowly.  I have been taking a lot of other classes this summer, so this one has been squeezed in.  So I have only actually finished 2 spreads.  And there is the reason I haven’t talked about it much.  But, now that the fall is here and things are calming down, I am hoping to have more time to work on this class… so, here is a look at my first 2 spreads* (more to come in the near future).

bodbom week 1

*The words have been blanked out to protect the privacy of the innocent 😉

So, are you doing any art journaling this weekend?

Nov 24th (one day late0

So, NaNo is going well. I am right where I wanna be. Meaning, I am on track to ‘win’, even if the story won’t be finished. But that is ok, cause it has a really good body. It has started to get really snowy and cold here… so other than a trip to the doctor tomorrow, I plan on burrowing in, and hopefully finishing. If not, at least well set up to finish next week.

Drawing is doing ok too. Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the pressure of writing, and direct my creative energies into another outlet. I have been enjoying the process, of taking one shade of gray, laying it down in different thicknesses. And how a few well placed lines or dark areas make things look 3-D. Here is one of my latest works…

This is one of the earlier ones…

nano- nov. 15, 2012

So, NaNoWriMo 2012 is half way done. And I am pleasantly surprised, the even with my health, I am still right on track for my 4th win. Health actually hasn’t been TOO bad this month. Although, I have had sinus pain the past could day, but I will take it. I have been thinking about putting up clips of my writing, but any of the stuff I think is interesting enough to include here, doesn’t make enough sense out of context. But, I figure I have 2 more weeks, something will come up, so be patient with me…

We lost our heat for 2 days here, which made typing (or anything else…) a long, cold process. We had our carbon monoxide detector go off last week (I am sure I already talked about that…). So, when the gas company came, one of their recommendations was to get the furnace cleaned. So the company we/the landlord hired to do that was here Monday. But in cleaning of the furnace, something came loose, and we lost power. And not only that, the belt came loose, and was ear piercingly squeaky for 2 days. And as I am at home full time these day, it was a major irritation in my life. (now let me just say, I am not REALLY complaining, just recounting the details of a story. I know I could live in new york/new jersey.) it’s cold here, but tolerable,,, just an irritation, and a way I would not have chosen to spend my time. But the guy came back last night, and fixed it, on our schedule (just before dinner) and I assume at no expense. So, I guess no harm, no foul. And hey, I got 2 days of extra dog and cat cuddles from the cold pets.

Here is an art journal page I did a while back, i was playing with some new supplies I had bought… (if you are interested  it says ‘not all who wander are lost…’)

Have you had any unexpected glitches that have come up, and stolen some of your NaNo time? Are you still on track to finish on time?

NaNo 2012- day 7

So, NaNo has been going pretty well for me… I am up to 14,904 words (out of 50,000.) I am feeling pretty accomplished. Not bad for day 7.

And all that on top of being pretty busy. Mostly we have been writing around here in the evenings. Saturday our dog had a hair apt in the morning, and we had a 3 hour meeting of the NaNos at the library. Then a quick bite, and back home…

Sunday was Christmas shopping, and a few errands. And the banks Then we got home and dh had to go right back out to get groceries. Then he came home, we had a late lunch, and cleaning the house and getting ready for the work week.

Oh, and did I mention we had a carbon monoxide leak last week? That was a bit more drama then I needed, but at least we had a detector to alert us, and atco came out and made their recommendations, so all was good.

So far November has been really hard on my body… I am super tired all the time… we have been going out more, so my body is paying for it, and my eyes have been suffering from using them more as I type.

Ok. Enough whining. I was looking at some of the art I have done, and found this to share with you…

Here are some home made flower postcards i made a while back…

how is your NaNo going? Is your body/sleep/Christmas shopping suffering?
